Learning 2.0: Week 12

I am very excited to have completed my final week and I look forward to getting my certificate. It certainly has been a learning experience and I have really enjoyed myself. I will be using quite alot of these programs in the future, especially google docs and you tube.
I think that facebook or my space could provide an opportunity for social networking for our library. I think that staff members could put their photo and profile on the site and invite borrowers to put their profile on and become "friends" of the library. On Facebook people can also share reviews of their favourite books etc.

Learning 2.0: Week 10

Mashups, these can be used for various displays in the library. I must admit that I did have difficulty with this at first, getting my creations from the desktop to my blog, but I think I know what I'm doing now!! ( it has taken me awhile, but I got there without help! )
I think mosiacs would be fantastic to use for displays in the libraries and I think the it would be great if our library could hold a session about mashups for kids and show them what you could do, I think they will love it. It is fun creating your own magazine cover, or ID pass - I think I could do a better job of my magazine cover next time..but at least I know how to do it.
I will have to tell my friends about mashups, some of the things you could make would be fantastic for a kids birthday party!

Learning 2.0: Week 11

This was a very interesting week. I honestly did not know that either program existed. I think they are both a fantastic way to organise, save and share documents. I will certainly be using google docs in the future for my Tafe assignments.
I have written, saved and also shared with NSW State Library a document in google and also Zoho...I hope it worked...

Learning 2.0: Week 9

I have heard of podcasts before but I never really knew much about them. Unfortunately I couldn't access this on my staff computer but I have been able to access this on a private computer. Podcasts could certainly be useful in the library for author talks and book reviews. I'm not too sure that the older generation would be too interested though.

Learning 2.0: Week 8

This was a much faster week and it was great.
I have come across these answer boards several times when I have been searching on the net and I have always wondered how you can join in...so I have certainly learnt something useful today. I think that "slam the boards" is a fantastic idea and I am glad that is has been working well so far. I would love to contribute, the only hard part is finding the time! I love helping people find the anwers they are looking for and it is great that so many people want to get involved and help people gain quality answers. I have had a quick play on a yahoo board, and I think it could be quite fun. I already know a few more questions that I would like to post, it will be interesting to see the responses that I will get. FUN!

Learning 2.0: Week 7

I have spent quite a bit of time getting through week 7, but it has been quite interesting. I have set up a delicious account, which I think will be very useful. It is very handy to be able to transport your favourites around from one computer to another. I was also quite interested in Library Thing and I have added this to my blog aswell. I would like to spend more time reading about this and adding more books to my library in the future. I have now joined Technorati, I'm not sure how useful this will be for me...but I will find out soon I guess. Its been a long week, but worthwhile.

Learning 2.0: Week 6

I love youtube. I could spend hours and hours on it and not get bored. I love watching all the music videos and I have added some as favourites. There are so many different interesting and funny clips. I will probably spend way too much time on here now. It can be used for libraries too, especially for special author visits that can be shared with country communities, but for me they weren't very interesting, a bit too long and boring!
But there is certainly something for everyone, so much to see and learn!

Learning 2.0: Week 5

Wikis:

This week I have spent alot of time looking at all the links and reading comments and info. I found the library practices wiki extremely interesting and I think it could be very beneficial for many libraries to share ideas and information. I think that the book lovers wiki is also great, but I wasn't overally interested with the Museum wiki. I think the great thing about wikis is that everyone can contribute and you don't have to be an computer expert!

Learning 2.0: Week 4

This has been by far the hardest week for me so far. I needed some assistance from a co-worker with this one, but I now think that I understand RSS, but personally I don't think that I will use it again. I will certainly use Flickr, but RSS is really not useful for me - but it is still good to know what is out there...I may find a use for it sometime in the future...

Learning 2.0: Week 3

Using Flickr, this was another fun experience. I spent over an hour just looking at other peoples photos. It took me quite some time to completly learn what I needed to do to upload my photos publicly, but I felt a real sense of accomplishment once I had done this! I like how you can browse photos in Flickr by category and I also really like that you can keep some of your photos private, which is a brilliant way to back up your photos these days!

Learning 2.0: Week 2

Learning to create my own blog has been so much fun. I have enjoyed learning about all the different things you can do, including choosing a template for my page.
I can't believe how many different features there are available. I enjoyed including my favourite shows and music and I even learnt how to add a mini quiz. I could spend hours creating my blog...if I had the time!

Learning 2.0: Week 1

Week one was very informative and I found that I learnt quite alot in a short period of time.
